Rare Sight Production

Story Tella, also known as DJ Story Tella, is an American DJ, producer, radio host, filmmaker, writer, and director, and the founder of Rare Sight Production.

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Story Tella was influenced early by the culture of the Bronx and Manhattan. Raised in a traditional family with a Gypsy father and Italian mother, he grew up with strong values centered on family, loyalty, respect, and discipline. Despite coming from a background where hip-hop and DJ culture were not widely accepted, he developed a deep passion for music at a young age.

His introduction to DJing came in the early 1990s after hearing a transformative hip-hop blend that fused Method Man vocals over a Slick Rick instrumental. That moment sparked his lifelong pursuit of turntablism, blending, and musical storytelling.

During the golden era of hip-hop, he traveled regularly between New Jersey and New York City, digging through record stores such as Fat Beats, Disco Rama, and Beat Street in search of vinyl, acapellas, and rare instrumentals. He developed his craft using traditional turntables, vinyl records, and mixers, mastering the art of blending without digital tools or automatic synchronization.

Story Tella later expanded into music production and beat making, building his career through Miami and Atlanta, where he worked as a DJ and producer with hip-hop artist Tim Dog while developing industry connections.

He eventually relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he transitioned into film, television, and media production. He became the host of “Live From The Basement” on Ruff Ryders Radio and founded Rare Sight Production, an independent film company focused on storytelling, culture, and original content.

Today, Story Tella works across music, radio, and film as a creative director and producer, developing projects that reflect authentic culture and real-life experiences.

From Jersey City to Hollywood, his career reflects a lifelong commitment to storytelling through sound and cinema.
